Choose a named car park before setting off

For a central visit, start with the municipal multi-storey car park on P. Valsamaki Street or the D.I.PA. municipal car park. The municipality identifies the first in its traffic-warden information. Its D.I.PA. announcement describes a smart payment system introduced on 2 March 2026. These are specific municipal facilities, not a promise of spaces near every seafront entrance.

Use the entrance shown on the car park's current signs. A map pin for the destination, municipality or pedestrian waterfront may take you somewhere you cannot enter by car. Leave time to walk from the parking area, especially if you have luggage or a pushchair.

Check which tariff applies

A municipal notice effective from 1 December 2025 sets a stepped tariff for municipal parking areas operating smart systems. It provides an initial free period and then different charges according to duration. Read the official tariff notice in Greek alongside the entrance display. Do not apply that notice automatically to every street bay, private car park or older municipal facility.

The notice also gives specific arrangements for Tasos Mitsopoulos and Mackenzie. These do not establish citywide free morning parking. An expired festive-season concession is not evidence that parking remains free today.

Before entering, check:

  • The operator and the facility name.
  • The rate for your planned stay and the calculation after that period.
  • Charging hours, maximum stay and whether overnight parking is allowed.
  • Accepted payment methods and whether payment happens before departure or at the exit.
  • Height, vehicle-size and access restrictions.

Paying at D.I.PA.

The municipality describes contactless payment at the exit and cash payment at automatic machines for D.I.PA. It also excludes bulky vehicles from that facility. Check the displayed instructions for your vehicle and payment method; this is not a rule for all Larnaca parking.

Keep the ticket or payment confirmation until you have left. If a machine fails, use the operator's posted assistance route. An unsuccessful payment attempt does not itself establish permission to leave a vehicle without payment.

Accessibility and longer stays

The municipal tariff notice describes a registration process for a parking concession for eligible disability-card holders. Confirm eligibility and vehicle registration with the municipality before relying on it. A marked accessible bay and a fee exemption are separate matters.

Ask about the route from the bay to street level, working lifts and gradients. Published office hours for municipal staff do not establish when a car park gate opens or closes. This guide does not verify step-free access or overnight availability at either central option.

Plan the rest of the journey

Airport collection has different instructions: use the Larnaca Airport rental guide. For driving restrictions, read Cyprus road rules. Travelling west? Check Paphos parking separately because its zone system is different.
